Memorial Day 2018; Healing Judgments

Memorial Day: Honoring those who served and died, those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and its citizens.

Honoring those who have died in service to our country does not mean someone is pro war or pro brutality. The issue is not that black and white. We must all ask our own questions, seek our own answers from within. We will not all share the same beliefs or experiences, yet I believe many of us want the same peace filled ends. I pray that one day we, as a country and really the world, will find solutions to our problems that do not ask us to put loved ones in harm’s way, whether it be overseas or on the streets of our own nation. I recognize we have a long way to go in this area. Ernest Holmes once said, “Be for something and against nothing.” To me this means that what you give your focus and energy to, expands.  Why not give your focus to that which you wish to see perpetuated within the world? If we focus on division and creating an ”other” that is what will expand. We will create more enemies, perpetuating the need to fear and to protect ourselves. Anger can be good in that it signals a boundary has been crossed, but to act from that anger typically creates more suffering. Anger must be channeled into meaning and clear purpose of action. The leaders I admire most channeled their anger into non-violent action with a clear purpose and direction. This does not mean we allow injustice, it means we find a way to open ourselves to solutions that bring long term healing for all, including for those we feel are in the “wrong.”

Let us be FOR one another. Let us be FOR the healing and support of our veterans and their families. Let us be FOR those who have given all, so that I have the freedom to write a letter like this. Let us be FOR people following that which is important to them, recognizing we will not all share the same cause or have the same goals. Let us be FOR a better solution to our problems, one that spreads healing rather than violence. Let us be FOR uniting as a country and being willing to listen to one another no matter the issue. There are no simple answers to complex habits and issues. We must all take responsibility, it will take uniting to bring healing and positive solutions.  A focused effort to raise consciousness is needed, and in that there can be no “other,” no “us vs. them.” I believe being for Peace means we are also for healing and unity “for all.” I don’t have the answers that will solve our world’s problems, but being mindful of the healing abilities of our thoughts and actions appears to be an excellent start.

Brene Brown – Daring Greatly – Vulnerability quote

“Vulnerability is not a weakness, and the uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure we face every day are not optional. Our only choice is a question of engagement. Our willingness to own and engage with our vulnerability determines the depth of our courage and the clarity of our purpose; the level to which we protect ourselves from being vulnerable is a measure of our fear and disconnection.

When we spend our lives waiting until we’re perfect or bulletproof before we walk in the arena, we ultimately sacrifice relationships and opportunities that may not be recoverable, we squander our precious time, and we turn our backs on our gifts, those unique contributions that only we can make.”

Brene Brown – Daring Greatly

Tired of Speaking Sweetly ~Hafiz

Love wants to reach out and manhandle us,
Break all our teacup talk of God.

If you had the courage and
Could give the Beloved His choice, some nights,
He would just drag you around the room
By your hair,
Ripping from your grip all those toys in the world
That bring you no joy.

Love sometimes gets tired of speaking sweetly
And wants to rip to shreds
All your erroneous notions of truth

That make you fight within yourself, dear one,
And with others,

Causing the world to weep
On too many fine days.

God wants to manhandle us,
Lock us inside of a tiny room with Himself
And practice His dropkick.

The Beloved sometimes wants
To do us a great favor:

Hold us upside down
And shake all the nonsense out.

But when we hear
He is in such a “playful drunken mood”
Most everyone I know
Quickly packs their bags and hightails it
Out of town.

Empowerment Rests in Commitment

“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.”
“Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too.”
“All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.”
“A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.”
“I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets: “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.””

Forgiveness to “Give Forth”

Forgiveness to ‘Give Forth’

“God can only be Peace and Harmony. Let go all the tenseness in your body, forget all the mean feelings you may have, and let the body, emotions, and mind rest in a deep awareness of that Peace which is God.” Ernest Holmes – The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind P 39

I love Emma Curtis Hopkins’ breakdown of the word forgiveness, ‘for-give-ness’ or to ‘give forth.’ As a means to realign myself with the Harmony that God is, I ‘give forth’ any negative thoughts or false beliefs that I have about myself or others.  I ‘give forth’ any negative thoughts or false beliefs that ever suggested I, or anyone, could be separate from our Source and Creator.

Giving forth our negative thoughts and false belief is a means of clearing a path way for Spirit to operate in our lives. Anger, resentment and hurt, while important to honor, must at some point give way to forgiveness in order to continue our healing process and spiritual growth. This pathway is the richness of life. As we clear ourselves of the false idea that God is something other than who we are, other than our neighbor, we make way for the Truth of our Oneness. When we recognize this Truth we fill those newly cleared spaces with Spirit, expanding our consciousness for a joyfully rich and thriving life. Rev Dr Kathianne Lewis once said in reference to forgiveness that it is, “Total Surrender! You give-forth yourself so God can give all of Itself as you.”

Today forgive, allow yourself to be freed from false thoughts about yourself and others. Allow yourself to be freed from a focus on condition. Everything is possible in God.

I am a Center in the Divine Mind, by Ernest Holmes

This prayer by Ernest Holmes has personally carried me a great distance, through some of the most challenging times of my life. If I am hurting pain does not suddenly cease at these times, however, when I focus on the truth of who I am the pain I feel at life’s ups and downs is pure, not bloated by false stories or fears. A pure emotion is full of power, clarity and healing. Anytime I remind myself of Truth, that I am an extension and expression of the Divine and the Universe is conspiring for my Good, I once again ride with the magical flow of Life. I stand in awe of the mystery and allow myself to be pulled forward and called to my greater what’s next.

Say it for yourself. Say it for others. Speak Truth often and with conviction!

Peace, Love and Blessings, Holly

“I am a center in the Divine Mind, a point of God conscious life, truth and action.  My affairs are divinely guided and guarded into right action, into correct results.  Everything I do, say or think, is stimulated by the Truth.  There is power in this word that I speak, because it is of the Truth and it is the Truth.  There is perfect and continuous right action in my life and my affairs.  All belief in wrong action is dispelled.  Right action alone has power and right action is power, and Power is God…the Living Spirit Almighty.  This Spirit animates everything that I do, say or think.  Ideas come to me daily and these ideas are divine ideas.  They direct me and sustain me without effort.  I am continuously directed.  I am compelled to do the right thing at the right time, to say the right word at the right time, to follow the right course at all times.”

“All suggestion of limitation or unhappiness is uprooted from my mind and cannot gain entrance to my thought.  I am happy, well and filled with perfect Life.  I live in the Spirit of Truth and am conscious that the Spirit of Truth lives in me.  My word is law unto its own manifestation, and will bring to me or cause me to be brought to its fulfillment.  There is no unbelief, no doubt, no uncertainty. I know and I know that I know.  Let every thought of doubt vanish from my mind that I know the Truth and the Truth [made] me free.”

“God never asks a question. It is not necessary for God to ask questions because God already knows all the answers. The word for this is “omniscience.” It means that God is the source of all knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence. Since I am one with God, then I have access to all knowledge, wisdom and intelligence. I know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. I have all the answers. There is Something within me that knows. I trust it totally. It is never wrong; it is always right.

I am filled with confidence because I know, and I know that I know. I never have to worry about the outcome because I am always divinely guided into perfect right decision and perfect right action. I never worry about the “means” because the “end” is already secure. My purpose in life is to express God. God’s purpose in life is to live fully, joyously, creatively and lovingly. I fulfill God’s purpose when I live that way, for I am a vehicle of God’s life. I am the means by which God lives. Accordingly I am endowed with everything necessary to live God’s life: all knowledge, all wisdom, all intelligence.

Knowing this, I now approach each day with excitement and great expectations. Each day is a new opportunity for me to express God, and I have within me an inexhaustible reservoir of resources to do a magnificent job living God’s Life.

I draw upon my inner reservoir of knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence to answer every question and to meet every challenge that presents itself to me today. I have an inexhaustible supply of answers, and they are all right answers. I approach this day in total confidence.”

By Rev William Curtiss – Science of Mind Magazine, December 1992 “Daily Guides to Richer Living”

The power of focusing on the truth of our existence is great. We “pray without ceasing” whether we are aware we are praying or not. Every thought is sending an energetic projection, a blueprint to the Universe about our true beliefs and understanding. Life is a culmination of what each person believes to be possible.

Dive into your beliefs, discover what you believe to be possible. Remember who and what you are and allow this knowing to pull you forward.

Prayer for World Peace by: Ernest Holmes

A Prayer for World Peace

by: Ernest Holmes

I know there is but One Mind, which is the mind of God, in which all people live and move and have their being.

I know there is a divine pattern for humanity and within this pattern there is infinite harmony and peace, cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness.

I know that the mind of humankind, being one with the mind of God, shall discover the method, the way, and the means best fitted to permit the flow of Divine Love between individuals and nations.

Thus harmony, peace, cooperation, unity, and mutual helpfulness are experienced by all.

I know there will be a free interchange of ideas, of cultures, of spiritual concepts, of ethics, of educational systems and scientific discoveries—for all good belongs to all alike.

I know that, because Divine Mind has created us all, we are bound together in one infinite and perfect unity.

I know that all people and all nations will remain individual but unified for the common purpose of promoting peace, happiness, harmony, and prosperity.

I know that deep within each person the Divine Pattern of perfect peace is already implanted.

I now declare that in each person and in leaders of thought everywhere this Divine Pattern moves into action and form, to the end that all nations and all people will live together in peace, harmony, and prosperity forever.

Amen. And so it is.

Undamn it. Prayers for our Country.

I first published this article in January of 2009 just after Obama was elected. This information is just as important today with the election of Trump. Regardless of what political party is in office we can all rally around our country, praying for our highest and best.

Blessings, Holly

Undamn It
By Holly Holmquist

With our nation in a sensitive transition period as the result of irresponsible lending and spending, now is the perfect time to reflect upon the personal choices we make to support positive solutions. How we as a nation traverse the rocky roads ahead, our progress and outcome, is absolutely affected by the energy we as individuals contribute to our atmosphere and communities. That energy comes from our choices, personally and as a collective whole. This includes what seeds we choose to plant through conversation and correspondence.

As a holistic worker I have been blessed to learn from many different teachers, and experience many different healing situations. One year while attending a holistic conference at the Dome in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Master Teacher Starr Fuentes was asked a question about the common phrase “Damn it.” Starr responded by saying that if a situation is not working that means it is already damned. If you want a solution why would you continue to damn it? “Undamn it.” Send it your grace and your blessings and watch as the situation begins to turn around.

Everything in the universe holds and distributes energy from the conversations we have with neighbors and friends to the letters we write and the e-mails we send. Before we push send or offer an opinion, it is our Spiritual responsibility to reflect upon the constructive manner of the message or opinion we are about to share. Does the message offer positive solutions with an eye on progress or are we simply feeding into judgment, conflict and criticism. It is easy to get caught up in outrage and fury and continue to damn a situation. Unfortunately every American has been affected in some way, shape or form by the current state of the economy. However the state of our nation is a result of the energy previously dispersed. The way to shift that tide is by altering those attitudes that are not working for the best interest of the collective whole and distributing a new and improved energy that suits our newly found purposes. These times call for us to be even more focused on positive, helpful and healthy solutions.

Everyone shows their patriotism in various ways; some never miss an opportunity to vote, some fly our nation’s flag on special holidays or year round, while others feel their patriotism calls them to various lines of service from the military to the Red Cross. A wonderful way to support our country and show your patriotism is through positive thoughts and prayers along with positive word of mouth. When times are tough we have a tendency to point fingers in blame and the current politicians, regardless of political party, become our favorite scapegoats. Regardless of which party or person holds office, our good energy will help guide them in making appropriate decisions far more than our negative projections. I recognize that there is no way to please all of the people all of the time. Even if I am not a big fan of who is in charge I am still very conscious of my intention to send positive energy to our country therefore I send positive energy to those who are currently leading it. That is one of the beautiful benefits of being an American; if we do not care for the policies of the current leader we will have the opportunity to help vote them out in the next election or on a positive note, if we like the candidate we can vote them back in. However for the time being they hold the job and therefore need our collective support to succeed.

If you were to dam a river you would be placing barriers in it’s path that prevent it’s flow. In any life situation negative energy and thoughts only contribute to blocking the positive flow. Without positive energy there will be no viable solutions. Lets unite in consciousness and open ourselves as well as our nation to positive flow. Ask yourself, “What can I do to contribute positively to our country?” Next time you are tempted to share an opinion that holds animosity ask yourself, “How can I turn this into a constructive message, one that yields hope for change and encourages healthy growth?” Each night bless those leaders that run our country in whatever way you choose or practice. Help to “undamn” the economic despair we are experiencing by sending your grace and blessings. We may not always agree on how to do things, however, we can all be united in our energetic support of a healthy and happy outcome.

Life’s Purpose: Inspiration!

Every time I hear of people looking to find their purpose in life, it always sounds so complicated, so painful, so grueling. The pressure is intense, as though if you don’t make the right decision, now, you are screwed for the rest of your life. I know I can sometimes make life much harder than it truly needs to be.

But life is so much more forgiving than this. Your purpose, everyone’s purpose, is to be inspired and to express from that inspiration. It is not a complicated concept. It is one, however, that carries much depth and a lifetime of evolution. What that means is different for each and every person, and will evolve and change as they evolve and change. How cool is that? Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be inspired and then bring that inspiration forward in a new and unique form.

This takes the pressure off. If you aren’t inspired to save the world, you don’t have to. However, doing your part to bring your unique inspiration to the world is contributing to its overall betterment.  What a blessing; we are not all the same and we aren’t designed to be. Everyone’s inspiration matters; some are called to pray and some are called to protest. Some are called to work with numbers and some are called to work with paints. Some are called to build bridges while other are called to tear them down.

Inspiration, for some, is soft and gentle. For others it is like fireworks going off in their soul. Many have multiple outlets for inspiration. If you pay close attention, it all comes without a lot of stress or strenuous effort. Effort will be required to learn a new skill. However again, the more you can relax and allow the process, the better off you will be. Stress and strenuous effort come when you are trying to force something. Inspiration only asks you to allow it the space to emerge. This doesn’t mean you are lazy or lack investment, this means you allow inspiration to flow through you and partner with it creatively. This is the beauty of co-creation; you are contributing to the inspiration process as much as the process of inspiration is contributing to you.

If you talk to a poet, painter or song writer, they will talk about being in the flow. Though we associate the ‘flow’ with occupations which we generally consider creative, there is an art, a creativity, to any occupation or activity. Everyone can speak to finding a groove or flow to their day or their work. This is when things become effortless; they still require skill, preparation and focus; however, this is all in harmony with being present to your art or craft.

Bottom line: when it comes to your purpose in life… be inspired, be present and allow a greater you to emerge.
