My Purpose in life…

“My purpose in life is to express God. God’s purpose in life is to live fully, joyously, creatively and lovingly. I fulfill God’s purpose when I live that way, for I am a vehicle of God’s life. I am the means by which God lives. Accordingly I am endowed with everything necessary to live God’s life: all knowledge, all wisdom, all intelligence.”

“Knowing this, I now approach each day with excitement and great expectations. Each day is a new opportunity for me to express God, and I have within me an inexhaustible reservoir of resources to do a magnificent job living God’s Life.”

By Rev William Curtiss – Science of Mind Magazine, December 1992

Money and Beliefs

money-tree-wallpaper-Money_tree-9

I have been a minister and holistic practitioner since 2005. Along with my ministerial practice, I have been in and out of the financial industry since 1993. This background makes for a unique combination.  In my ministry I support and guide clients in full self- expression, helping them to live a thriving life bringing their joys and talents to the world.  A major part of personal thriving is how people view money and finance. From years of working in the banking industry I have learned that, like those of any other subject, people freely advertise their beliefs around money.  It is no wonder they find finances such a challenge. As I listen to people share their perspectives, I hear certain themes repeated every day. Do any of these sound familiar? “Easy come easy go.” “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” “It all spends the same…quickly.”

As we focus on raising consciousness as a means to build a better world for ourselves and future generations, there is a call to action for everyone to become more mindful of our thoughts as well as our words. Sometimes people respond to these phrases with empathy, as a means to comfort someone who is feeling distraught about their financial lot in life. “It is rough out there. We are all just a paycheck away.” This is not true, and when I have had moments of being “just a paycheck away,” as they say, I have reminded myself that not everyone is “ just a paycheck away.” I don’t have to accept that position in my life. When we advertise these beliefs, we are telling the Universe, “This is what I will accept.” The Universe, being impersonal, just says “Okay,” and that ends up being what you get.

Now is the time to be mindful of our words, and consciously create a different story. If you want all your money to “spend quickly” keep saying it – because it will be more than happy to oblige. If you keep affirming that money is hard to come by and that your finances are a stress, they will be, for the Universe merely acts upon our words. However if you would like a different experience when it comes to money and finance, I challenge you to first catch yourself in the limiting thoughts and then ask yourself what would you like to experience instead? For me, I love it when money comes easily and is always more than enough to have fun and cover any outgoing expenses. I like to remind myself that there is plenty of money to go around.  This shift in perspective will help to create a shift in consciousness, which will help to create a shift in the world.

Take your life back, one thought at a time.

It Takes Two to Tango (Partnering for Self-Expression)

eb50bc817cfb69ec1276a961118266da

A couple weeks ago I watched The James Howard Band play at a local club. Toward the end of the night, a couple arrived and began to dance an incredible tango. I was mesmerized by their synchronicity; every move appeared to be seamless, effortless and completely in unison. The woman was incredibly elegant, leaning into her partner and allowing him to guide her every step. She looked radiant as her partner placed the beauty of her motion out on display like a fine painting in a gallery.

I was sitting with a friend who happened to have a dancing background.  At one point I remarked on how amazed I was that she knew every step her partner wanted her to take. My companion replied, “That is when you know someone is a good lead. The communication is clear yet subtle to the point of being unnoticeable to the untrained eye.” I could feel the synchronicity between them as though they shared the same pulse. It was incredibly delicate and extremely powerful. I sat in awe of their grace and beauty, as it was extraordinary to watch. The dancers’ caliber was so high, and their dancing so refined, they moved as one being, out on the floor.

Later, while sitting in prayer, I became aware that this incredible tango is very much like my partnership with God.  I have chosen to dance and I have partnered with the best lead in town.  This dance is incredible and amazing, yes; but at times I feel completely fragile and raw as I break old habits and struggle to learn new steps. My fear, vulnerability, faith, trust and tenacity have all stepped out on the floor willing to be exposed, willing to be broken down and recreated again and again in the process of divine self-expression. Some days are definitely more elegant than others; however, with each day my dance of purpose becomes more powerful. I find as I dedicate myself to practice, the subtle communication becomes clear and the steps more graceful and effortless.

This is a partnership, a co-creation, for I have chosen the dance and the music. I asked my lead to step out onto the floor with me, as my partner, guide and teacher. God cannot do this dance alone; I matter. If I refuse to get on the floor, nothing will happen. I will have no one to lean into and God will have no radiant beauty to display. I have no doubt I have stepped on God’s toes more than once, as certain moves challenge me to coordinate my mind with my heart. At times I struggle to let go of how I look, and who I think I should be. Then I experience a new freedom as I open myself to learning the steps and experiencing the nuances of our divine pairing. I am committed to practicing and refining that which I have learned, for further evolution and expansion takes place as I dedicate myself to continually unfolding.

Whether you want to dance the cha-cha, rumba, salsa or tango, what matters is that you dance! The Universe awaits your two-step as a means to bring joyous light and life to the world.

Emerge

1

Sometimes in life we come up against blocks, sticking points if you will. These are the moments when I long for understanding, as I begin to doubt myself and question everything. “Is this what I am supposed to be doing?” “Am I on the right track?” “Have I missed something?” (We all have our own list of questions.)

Recently in prayer when I was asking for clarity and understanding, what came to me was, “Fuck understanding, just emerge!” In other words, get out of your head and participate, express! There is a time to understand and it comes with reflection. You must act in order to reflect. You must create in order to improve upon your creation. You can’t always know what will be next or how to do it.

This is not to say that everything needs to be a blind jump; but if you wait for all the details to be clear you will wait forever. Details become clear as you move forward intuitively. Intuition is what directs your action and leads you to a point of reflection.

I recently told a friend I wanted to clearly see the yellow brick road before I began to travel upon it. He replied, “That is not faith.” Faith is knowing the road will be laid beneath each step I make, brick by brick. Intuition is God’s way of communicating the direction in which I walk; hence co-creation.

Consider this; if we are all here to create and self-express, to emerge, maybe the sticking points are not about being on the “wrong” track at all… maybe we are just being asked to kick it up a notch. Rather than retreating, giving up or switching tracks, life may be asking us to take our self-expression to the next level. When something is our heart’s desire, we are always being asked to up-level, to evolve.

If something brings you joy, refuse to be daunted.  Who wants the consolation prize for happiness?

Reciprocity

98133

Reciprocation is defined as mutual giving and receiving. In any relationship, reciprocity plays a major role, either contributing to its success, or in the case of a lack of reciprocity, leading to the relationship’s dysfunction and demise. The universe operates best in divine flow and harmony, where give and take are equals.

Many people look for ‘free’ in a ‘give me’ state of mind, which is fine when they balance being the receiver with being the giver. On the other hand, many people who give all the time, without receiving, run the risk being out of harmony. You can receive in one area of life and give in another; but we should be careful not to abuse or deplete important relationships trying to serve others or self interests. The universe is not a tit for tat system.

You can never outgive God. You will always receive more than you give. That is the power of living in an expressive and inspiring universe: we get more out than we will ever put in. A mind focused only on receiving, or only on giving, is out of divine flow and will be challenged to fully prosper. Co-creating in divine flow requires a melodic interplay of letting go and taking in all at the same time.  When you truly surrender your cup will be full, your heart enriched, and you will have contributed to the enrichment in others.

If we wish to receive more, we must question where we are giving. If we wish to give more, we must ask where we are allowing the universe to provide. Are we taking with no intention of reciprocating? Are we giving with no awareness or allowance of the universe filling our cup through others? Let’s look at the relationships in our lives and ask if they are reciprocal. How could we benefit and accelerate the divine flow of these beautiful relationships by either giving or receiving more?

Power of Self-Expression

water_droplets_ripple_hd_picture_1_165561

My Ministry isn’t about self-improvement. It is about self-expression.  Ernest Holmes said “Be for something and against nothing.”  Our society spends a lot of time focused on what needs to be ‘fixed’ or ‘improved’, pointing out what is ‘wrong’.  When you view humankind in its Divine nature, as an extension and expression of its Creator, we find that inherently we are whole.  You are whole, there is nothing broken, no one needs to be fixed.  As spiritual beings in every moment, each one of us is forever evolving, forever unfolding.  Our spiritual evolution is God expressing through us, in us and as us.

Another term for God expressing through you is ‘self-expression.’  It is the God in you that triggers the desire to self-express, the desire to show your uniqueness.  We are creations with the natural drive and desire to create; it completes us.  This is how the Universe stays in balance, evolves, expands and raises in consciousness.  We seek inspiration, and then express how we are inspired, uniquely. Look to the world around you.   You are surrounded by creations creating. This channel for self-expression makes the good in your life a reality.  It provides a foundation of fulfillment because when you are expressing from your authentic self you are standing in your God-given power. Thriving in full self-expression is the purpose of our existence, for it sparks our evolution and develops our eternal soul.

Everyone has a direct connection to God; an intermediary is not a requirement.  I work as a guide.  I help people to flush out and discern the information they are receiving. However, only they will know what is true for them.  This work is about empowerment.  As a minster and mentor, I am a tutor for spiritual education. I collaborate with clients on opening to their good and expressing their personal truth.  There is not just one way to do this, as everyone is unique. What and how you express will evolve and change as you evolve and change, and as your relationship to the Universe evolves and changes. Conscious union with God, the Universe, Creator, Spirit, Source, our Highest-Self – whatever you wish to call it – is the key to living a full and purposeful life.  “Seek ye first the Kingdom” which lies within all, not just within some. It is within everyone, for we are One.  This thriving knows no religion, race, sexual orientation, education level, political party, etc. Clients and I consciously focus on co-creating with the Divine in them for their highest expression. Together we develop tools and action steps for them to build a solid personal foundation on which to operate.

At times personal growth may be uncomfortable. It just is. This discomfort can be laborious and challenging; however the more you lean in to the spaces which intimidate you, the easier action will become.  Labor leads to liberation and liberation leads to freedom.  As a result of this work, clients show up differently in every area of life.  This spark creates an atmosphere, a contagion that sparks self-expression in others. Think about it, who inspires you? When we seek to create and express ourselves, living from this inspiration sets off a chain reaction, just like the reaction that was triggered in you. We trigger God sparks in one another, and that is so cool. When we act on that trigger in creative expression we are in alignment with the Universe, with God.

Remember, no one can live life for us! Being inspired is wonderful, but it is wonderful as a means to call you to inspire through self-expression.  That is what keeps the chain going.  As we open to who we are inherently, and fall in love with our nature, our path becomes exciting and gives birth to clarity as we open to our divine connection. Self-expression is so simple yet so incredibly powerful.

Resonance will place you with the right support team for your personal self-expression. If this resonates for you, contact me. Have a consultation and see if session work is where you wish to invest in your spiritual education.

Healing is a Personal Process

lotus-flower-vector-graphic-free-32230

As a healer/ minister I have been blessed to witness many different healing techniques, from many different cultures.  All have validity and purpose and just like paths to God, there are as many ways to heal as there are people in the world.  Anything spiritual is personal, therefore true healing is about personal resonance and personal belief.  What holds power for you?  What can you put your faith in?

In 2008 my father was diagnosed with cancer and it was somewhat advanced.  At the time I had already been exposed to many forms of holistic healing work as I had completed an apprenticeship, been ordained as a minister and was now offering healing services myself.  When my father’s diagnosis came in, I never felt the need to tell or even suggest to him what to do, think or believe.  As I aligned myself with Spirit, it was very clear to me that this was between him and God.  I knew my role was to support him by supporting whatever he had faith in.  My mother is a registered nurse, she and my father have faith in Western Medicine.  It is all God.  My father weighed his options, discovered what felt good to him and quickly had a surgical procedure.  We are nearing 7 years now and my father is still cancer free, and as sassy as ever.  Surgery was the best choice for him; it is where his faith and belief lay.

Just like in religion and politics, I see people allowing their differences in beliefs and opinions to divide them every day and in the most fragile of situations.  Remember, it is all God.  As Gandhi said, “God has no religion.”  God also has no political party preference and God does not favor western medicine over eastern medicine.  It is all God.  Our part is taking the responsibility to seek the Kingdom within, to align with our Highest Self and recognize what we have faith in.  What resonates for our personal healing?  An important part of healing in any situation be it health, relationship or career, is standing in your personal power.  Sometimes you will opt for the surgery or medication and sometimes you won’t, but no one can make that choice for you.  That is between you and your Creator.  Your job is to gather the information and go within for direction.

That New Car Smell; Intuition Never Fails

follow-your-intuition

One day when I was about 27, my, then boyfriend wanted to go car shopping;  Lets “just look” he said, “For fun.”  As he lived with me and didn’t have a cent to his name, we shared a car, my car. At the time the suggestion was made I had a sick feeling in my stomach.  I hesitantly agreed and we proceeded to  visit a car lot.  On the lot ‘looking’ at rather expensive rigs my significant other was foaming at the mouth.  I personally didn’t have much interest,  as I wasn’t particularly into cars and have never been one of those people who cared much about looking ‘cool’ or being ‘in’.  Of course after about an hour of ‘just looking’ my boyfriend was test driving and I started to get nervous.  Before I knew it ‘we’ were in the finance office with my boyfriend more than happy to sign on the dotted line but there was a catch; his credit was so bad he couldn’t even be on the loan with a co-signer.  My credit was good and suddenly they wanted to put everything in my name.  The sales manager assured me we could “move everything into his name in a year, no problem.” (this was a bold faced lie).  All I really remember from that day was the pressure on all sides: my dishonest boyfriend, the dishonest sales man and the dishonest sales manager.  I said at least 3 times, “Let’s go home, I want to think about this first.”  And every reply was, “Oh no, you won’t need to do that we can get this worked out today.”  As though they were modern day heroes and I had a problem they were going to selflessly fix.

2 years later I had gotten rid of the boyfriend and voluntarily had the vehicle repossessed as I stood in bankruptcy court awaiting a decision about my naiveté.   You may think I’m going to tell you I was duped; well I was definitely lied to.  You might think I’m going to cry foul and say I was a victim of other people’s broken moral compass.  I was wronged!!!  Right?  But the truth is, I was responsible, because every step of the way, from the boyfriend moving in and needing help to pay his many obligations to the fated day at the car lot, never once was I truly fooled.  I didn’t know any of the specific details, which I found out later, however I didn’t need too, I knew something was wrong.  I wasn’t told, ‘Proceed with caution’ I was told, ‘Do not proceed!’ very clearly in the pit of my stomach.  I knew not to move forward on each step of the way, yet I allowed my intuition to be overridden by others’ selfish interests.   Plain and simple, I didn’t trust myself.

I’m not trying to say I have all the answers.   I, like everyone else, develop theories based on my experience and observation.  12 years later I can look back and see, I truly wasn’t let down by God or duped by anyone, all the information was there, I just didn’t listen.  I believe some call this, ‘denial.’ I didn’t trust myself and in my want to be looked after, I deferred to those that wanted to take advantage.  As miserable as that experience was it led to a lot of good.  10 years ago I became a spiritual minister and I also became a loan officer, and eventually a manger, for a credit union.  I put all of that so-called ‘bad’ experience to work educating others on making smart financial decisions and following their intuitive sense as to whether or not something is a fit for them .  Now as a Spiritual Mentor,  I coach people on listening to themselves and heeding the messages they are given.  Not to mention I am a ten times happier and more confident person.  I gleaned a lot from that humiliating experience and there is no point wasting energy by regretting it.

Life is messy at times and it operates on a trial and error system.  I believe all of these messy experiences are opportunities, to not only get to know ourselves, but also to mold ourselves.  I was a better person after I went through bankruptcy.   Would I recommend it?   No way!!  Did it have to happen?   Not at all, but it did.  The truth is I serve others better now that I have had that experience.  I also listen to myself and rely upon my internal compass.   That alone has made life so much more inspiring and enjoyable.

Co-Creation at Its Best

bokehpreniumset

Co-Creation at Its Best

In continuing with the creative thread touched on in my last blog,  today I would like to look at the importance of co-creation.  Many clients, in their pursuit of living from their spiritual foundation, feel that surrender, or marrying their will to God’s, means surrendering all of their decision making power as well as surrendering all their desires, as though God has prescripted  each of our lives and is off stage delivering dialog to us line by line.  I wish to challenge this and plant the seed that co-creation with the Divine is what propels our creativity forward.  It wouldn’t be creative if we didn’t lift the brush to canvas and see what comes through us to paint.  In the co-creative process when we are inspired to paint, say a garden, then we give the divine a channel in which to come through, like tuning a radio.  If we become overly focused on ignoring what inspires us and waiting for Spirit to just plop a purpose in our lap, suppressing what bring us joy, we are missing an important step.   That is, Spirit creates through us by inspiring us.  What inspires us is the direction that we seek.   The point is it’s in the doing,  the acting upon  inspiration that we allow the creative force to be channeled through us, that we tune to its frequency.  Contrary to a procrastinator’s belief, you won’t get more information on how to proceed until you engage, until you act upon the initial inspiration or spark.  This is co-creation, “Spirit this makes me feel good, it makes me feel free.  I wish to have more of that feeling.”  So pursue that feeling and be open to Spirit leading you to an even better feeling in your pursuit.  Once you set that partnership in motion the possibilities are limitless.  Actually the possibilities were always limitless.  Once you actively engage with the Divinity within you, somehow an energy is activated that reveals the mass potentiality as possible.   In this process we begin to believe before we can see which gives the Divine a clear channel, frequency, to create our heart desire through us.
